I work for Louise Green Ltd, which was registered at Companies House in 2016. I am based in the East Midlands and work there as well as in London, Bucks, Beds and Herts.
I am a qualified teacher who has over thirty years’ experience in assessing for specific learning difficulties. I administer full diagnostic assessments and shorter assessments, looking for evidence for access arrangements, such as extra time and scribes, in external examinations such as GCSEs and A Levels.
I have held an Assessment Practising Certificate (APC) since they were first introduced in 2005 and this has been updated every three years. My current APC is valid until the 30th July 2026. My details can be found on The SpLD Assessment Standards Committee (SASC) website under Find an Assessor.
The Joint Council for Qualifications (JCQ) is a UK-based community interest company that represents eight major qualification providers, including AQA, CCEA, City & Guilds, Edexcel, NCFE, OCR, SQA, and WJEC. It acts as a unified voice for these organizations, overseeing standards for GCSE, GCE, Scottish Highers, and vocational qualifications. JCQ ensures consistent examination administration, monitors invigilation, and supports examination officers. It’s distinct from Ofqual, which regulates and accredits exam boards.
I have been assessing for the JCQ and the previous JCGQ since 1990
I joined Patoss, the Professional Association of Teachers of Students with Specific Learning Difficulties in 1990 and was a member of the Board of Directors from 1993. I served as Chairman of the Board from 2004 to 2015. As Chair of Patoss I was interviewed both on radio and television about dyslexia related issues. I also was a member of the Board of the British Dyslexia Association (BDA) for many years.
I have had articles printed in the Times Educational Supplement about spelling and writing, and I have presented at the Education Show at the NEC about pupils coping with stress.
In 2012 and 2013 I was part of the working party that set the definition for dyspraxia in the UK.
I provide diagnostic assessments for all ages from primary school students to adults.
I have worked at Oxford University and South Bucks University as an onsite assessor. I also have worked in a variety of schools, specialist schools and colleges providing assessments for access arrangements for secondary school students and supporting both students and teachers. Therefore, I am experienced with the particular needs of each of these settings.
I have been a member of a panel who meet with the Joint Council of Qualifications to consider, from an assessor’s point of view, the implications of any changes to the JCQ access arrangements regulations.
I have given training for Patoss, the BDA, schools, colleges and small groups on a variety of subjects, including how to administer access arrangements for GCSEs and A Levels, what tests can be used for assessments, dyspraxia, common mistakes made in assessing, coping with stress, and the strengths and weaknesses of many different assessment materials.
